Public transportation service for Wheatland residents will change dramatically beginning Thursday, January 3, 2008. The existing one round trip, one day a week, advance reservation service will expand to two round trips, two days a week and will no longer require an advance reservation.

The new Wheatland Route will offer two round trip options each Tuesday and Thursday for service to Marysville through a combination of five scheduled bus stops along with demand response service for qualifying seniors and persons with disabilities. The route will travel on Highways 65 and 70 between Wheatland and Marysville with service provided by request to any location within ¼ mile of the route such as the Peach Tree Clinic, Wal-Mart, Mervyn's and Rideout Hospital.

Connections to Yuba-Sutter Transit's local fixed routes are possible at the North Beale Transit Center and at the Yuba County Government Center for service throughout Marysville, Yuba City, Linda and Olivehurst. Connections are also available at the North Beale Transit Center to Wheatland passengers for the first time for service to downtown Sacramento.

New bus stop signs will be going up soon and new service brochures are now available. Call Yuba-Sutter Transit at 742-2877 for route and schedule information or to request a free service brochure.
