McGowan Park & Ride Service Input Requested

Highway 70 & Midday Sacramento Passengers!

Yuba-Sutter Transit is now considering schedule and stop options to integrate the new McGowan Parkway & Highway 70 Park & Ride Lot into our existing Highway 70 and Midday Sacramento schedules. For those unfamiliar with this long anticipated project, this new lot will be located under the power lines on the northwest corner of McGowan Parkway and Highway 70 in Olivehurst. Yuba County will open bids for the construction of this facility this month and it is expected to be open for service by September 2008.

Attached are two options for your review and comment. In Option 1, the new McGowan stop would replace the existing North Beale Transit Center stop on all schedules. In Option 2, the McGowan stop would replace the North Beale Transit Center stop only for the morning Highway 70 schedules, but it would be added to the 1st and 3rd Midday and all afternoon Highway 70 schedules. In summary, travel times between Marysville and downtown Sacramento would be reduced for those schedules where the new stop replaces the North Beale Transit Center stop and increased for those that simply add the new stop to the schedule.

Your input on these options will be used to create a draft service plan that will circulated for further review and comment before a recommended plan is presented to the Yuba-Sutter Transit Board of Directors for approval following a public hearing at a special night meeting that is now planned for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2008. Implementation of the adopted service plan is expected to begin as early as Tuesday, September 2, 2008.

At a minimum, please provide your name; the AM and PM schedule that you most frequently ride now; where you now board the bus in the morning; your preferred option; and, where you would catch the bus under that option. [Example: "My name is Jane Doe; I now ride the 1st AM 70 and the 1st PM 70; I now board the bus at the North Beale Transit Center; I prefer Option #1; and, I would catch the bus at the new McGowan Park & Ride."] In addition, feel free to submit specific alternate options for our consideration.
