Following a public hearing at a special night meeting, the Yuba-Sutter Transit Board of Directors approved a service plan to integrate the new McGowan Park & Ride lot into the existing Highway 70 and Midday Sacramento schedules. A copy of the new service plan which includes a number of related stop and schedule changes is attached.

Now under construction, the new McGowan Park & Ride will be located on the west side of Highway 70 at the intersection of McGowan Parkway and Powerline Road in Olivehurst. This Yuba County owned and operated facility, the first official park and ride lot in the county, is expected to be open for use by buses, carpools and vanpools in October. It is ideally located for those traveling either to Sacramento County on Highway 70 or to Placer County on Highway 65. A second Yuba County park and ride lot is being planned near the intersection of Highway 70 and Feather River Boulevard in Plumas Lake.

For Yuba-Sutter Transit, the McGowan Park & Ride will replace the existing North Beale Transit Center stop on all Sacramento Commuter and Midday schedules that now use Highway 70 between Marysville and downtown Sacramento. This stop change is scheduled to occur on October 1, 2008 or as soon as possible thereafter depending on the construction schedule.

Compared to simply adding the new stop to the existing schedules, the elimination of the North Beale Transit Center stop will result in reduced travel times; lower operating costs; improved schedule reliability; and, a more attractive service due to fewer and better spaced stops consistent with a limited stop express service. For those passengers that now use the North Beale Transit Center stop to access Yuba-Sutter Transit's Sacramento services, they will be able to catch the bus at either the existing Yuba County Government Center stop in Marysville or the new stop in Olivehurst.

New Sacramento service brochures with a more definitive implementation schedule will be distributed when construction nears completion. Call 530-634-6880 (511 toll-free) for more information or to receive a free service brochure.
