The service plan to integrate the new McGowan Park & Ride lot into Yuba-Sutter Transit's existing Highway 70 and Midday Sacramento schedules was approved on August 7th. By passenger request, a minor change has since been made to that plan to set the arrival time for the first downtown Sacramento stop for the first morning Highway 70 schedule five minutes earlier at 6:25 a.m. As a result, the scheduled departure times for the Yuba County Government Center, McGowan Park & Ride and East Nicolaus stops will all be five minutes earlier as well. The revised service plan, which Yuba-Sutter Transit now expects to implement on Monday, November 17th, is attached.

The new McGowan Park & Ride is now being constructed on the west side of Highway 70 at the intersection of McGowan Parkway and Powerline Road in Olivehurst. This Yuba County owned and operated facility will be the first official park and ride lot in the county. It is now expected to be open for use by buses, carpools and vanpools in November. It is ideally located for those traveling either to Sacramento County on Highway 70 or to Placer County on Highway 65.

For Yuba-Sutter Transit, the McGowan Park & Ride will replace the existing North Beale Transit Center stop on all Sacramento Commuter and Midday schedules that now use Highway 70 between Marysville and downtown Sacramento. Compared to simply adding the new stop to the existing schedules, the elimination of the North Beale Transit Center stop will result in reduced travel times; lower operating costs; improved schedule reliability; and, a more attractive service due to fewer and better spaced stops consistent with a limited stop express service. For those passengers that now use the North Beale Transit Center stop to access Yuba-Sutter Transit's Sacramento services, they will be able to catch the bus at either the existing Yuba County Government Center stop in Marysville or the new stop in Olivehurst.

New Sacramento service brochures will be distributed when the implementation date is more certain as construction nears completion. Call 530-634-6880 (511 toll-free) for more information or to receive a free service brochure.
