Temporary and Long-Term Sacramento Service Changes With Revised Effective Date

Caltrans has announced that Nicolaus Road west of East Nicolaus will be closed from Monday, April 13th through Friday, April 17th for work related to the construction of the new Highway 70 / Nicolaus Road interchange. (This closure had been previously announced to begin on April 6th.) During the closure period, the route and schedule for all morning and afternoon Highway 70 schedules will continue unchanged and Palm Street both north and south of Nicolaus Road will remain available for parking, but the following temporary and long-term service changes will become effective Monday, April 13th.

During the one week closure of Nicolaus Road, the 2nd Midday schedule that departs downtown Sacramento at 12:15 p.m. will not stop in East Nicolaus, but will instead remain on Highway 99 to Yuba City and Marysville. Regular northbound 2nd Midday service to East Nicolaus will resume on Monday, April 20th.

Beginning Monday, April 13th, the two existing afternoon supplemental commuter buses will no longer serve both East Nicolaus and Highway 99. They will instead continue northbound on Highway 70 to Marysville with service to East Nicolaus, the McGowan Park & Ride lot and the Yuba County Government Center. The first afternoon supplemental bus will still begin service downtown at 3:55 p.m. ten minutes ahead of the 1st PM Highway 70 schedule and the second supplemental bus will begin service at 4:25 p.m. ten minutes ahead of the 2nd PM Highway 70 schedule. These changes will remain in effect indefinitely in response to current ridership patterns.

Both afternoon supplemental buses are scheduled to operate Monday through Thursday. The morning supplemental bus that currently provides additional capacity for the 3rd AM Highway 70 schedule from East Nicolaus will continue to operate unchanged Tuesday through Thursday. No supplemental service is operated on Fridays or during holiday periods.

The operation of supplemental buses depends on the availability of both equipment and personnel and schedules are subject to change without notice in response to changing ridership patterns. For these reasons, if the supplemental bus does not show up before the arrival of the regularly scheduled bus, it is likely that a supplemental bus is not operating that day.
