MOD Service to Launch In Linda and Olivehurst This May

Ribbon cutting for Yuba-Sutter Transit "MOD," May 29, 5:30 PM, 2088 North Beale Road, Marysville, CA.

Starting later this month, residents of Linda and Olivehurst may notice new MOD vehicles in their neighborhoods. The “MOD” (Mobility On-Demand) service by Yuba-Sutter Transit will be available to the public beginning in May. Think of MOD like a shared shuttle that comes when you want, where you want. Book rides straight from your phone, get picked up in minutes and connect to nearby bus routes or run errands locally without needing a car.

MOD will feature a dynamic scheduling system, enabling riders to book, cancel, and locate MOD services via a mobile application. MOD will also be available by contacting Customer Service or by visiting www.yubasuttertransit.com/mod-ride. MOD will operate weekdays from 6:00 AM to 8:30 PM and 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturdays. The basic one-way fare will be $1.50 and 75¢ for discount eligible riders. Daily fare caps will apply and local Monthly Passes will also be accepted along with pre-paid fare tickets (available for purchase from Yuba-Sutter Transit).

Please visit www.yubasuttertransit.com/mod-ride for updates, including the official launch date, mobile application links, and fare information.

To celebrate the launch, Yuba-Sutter Transit, in partnership with the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce, will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 5:30 PM in the West Parking Lot of Yuba College, located at 2088 N Beale Rd, Marysville, CA 95901. Please join us for this family-friendly event featuring a ceremony, promotional giveaways, and a raffle hosted by the Yuba-Sutter Chamber. MOD vehicles will be available for viewing, and Yuba-Sutter Transit staff will assist attendees with downloading the MOD Ride application. For more information, visit www.yubasuttertransit.com/mod-ride.

Summer Stroll event on May 31, 3-9 PM at Plumas Street with kid zone, food trucks, vendors, and live music.

Summer Stroll to Close Plumas Street on Saturday, May 31st

The annual Summer Stroll Festival will be held from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31st in downtown Yuba City. Plumas Street from Colusa Avenue to Bridge Street will be closed at 10:00 a.m. to set up for this major community event. Due to the early closure, Yuba-Sutter Transit’s service will be re-routed from Plumas Street that day.

Route 1 buses will operate on Olive Street between Colusa Avenue and Forbes Street and Route 2 will operate on Shasta Street between Colusa Avenue and Bridge Street. The Plumas Street bus stops at both Church and Bridge Streets as well as the Route 1 bus stops at Forbes and Almond will not be in service during this time. For detour information, visit www.yubasuttertransit.com.

 Get Pedaling for Bike Month

Last year, over 5,000 individuals and nearly 400 workplaces in the Sacramento Region participated in “May is Bike Month”. Now it’s your turn! This spring, May is Bike Month is back as part of the regional campaign to trade your car keys for handlebars and make at least one trip a week by bicycle. Riding a bike is a great way to ensure you are getting enough daily exercise as well as an easy, greener and safe way to travel from A to B while avoiding traffic. You could even win prizes! Register for May is Bike Month for free at www.lovetoride.net/sacregion.

Yuba-Sutter Transit makes “May is Bike Month” even easier with bike racks on every bus and bike lockers at three of our Park & Ride Lots. See the bike program and policies story below for details.

Yuba-Sutter Transit Bike Program & Bike Policies

A heart-shaped bicycle wheel design on a mustard yellow background.

All Yuba-Sutter Transit buses are equipped with two or three position bike racks for use on a first-come, first-served basis at no additional cost. No permit is required and there is no time or stop restrictions, but passengers are required to load, secure, and unload their own bike. Mopeds, motorized bikes and bikes with non-standard wheel and frame sizes that do not fit securely on the rack are not permitted.

Bikes are not allowed inside local fixed route or commuter buses unless it is the last bus of the day, or the bus has available underfloor storage space. This restriction does not apply to the rural route or Dial-A-Ride services where extra bikes are allowed inside if space permits. If you prefer to leave your bike behind, space is available in the Yuba-Sutter Transit bike lockers at three of our Park & Ride Lots, though availability varies by location. Lockers are available with specific use limitations for $5 per month (three months minimum) or $50 a year, plus a $25 refundable key/security deposit.

For the occasional rider, an on-demand, two-position bicycle security and storage pod called a “BikeLid” is located at the Plumas Lake Park & Ride. It is available free of charge on a first come, first served basis using your own lock. It does not get much easier than that!
