FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

YUBA-SUTTER TRANSIT CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF CONNECTING COMMUNITIES

Celebrating five decades of mobility, accessibility, and community connection.

October 6, 2025, Marysville, CA – Yuba-Sutter Transit is proud to celebrate 50 years of serving the Yuba-Sutter community with safe, reliable, accessible, and innovative public transportation. To honor the milestone, Yuba-Sutter Transit will host a 50th Anniversary Community Celebration on October 18, 2025, at 6:30 pm at 2100 B Street in Marysville.

This family-friendly event will feature music, tours of the newly wrapped buses, on-site activities for all ages, refreshments, promotional items, raffles and recognition of dedicated staff. In addition, children will have the opportunity to explore a specially themed “Spooky” bus as part of an interactive “Explore and Touch” experience. Yuba-Sutter Transit invites riders, partners, and community members to celebrate five decades of connection and to be part of the vision for the future.

Founded in 1975 as the Hub Area Transit Authority (HATA), the agency began with a single program, “Our Car” – an affordable taxi service for seniors and people with disabilities. Today, Yuba-Sutter Transit connects thousands of residents each year to work, school, medical appointments, and beyond through six local fixed routes, Sacramento commuter services, three rural routes, and curb-to-curb Dial-A-Ride services.

Earlier this year, Yuba-Sutter Transit launched its new microtransit service, Mobility On-Demand (MOD). This convenient, on-demand shared service uses technology to connect riders to local fixed routes and transit hubs within each service zone. Yuba-Sutter Transit hopes to expand MOD service to more locations in the coming year to continue expanding mobility options and meeting the changing needs of the community. Along with expanding MOD, Yuba-Sutter Transit is planning for new service options to Lincoln/Roseville in the near future.

“Our mission has always been about more than just getting from point A to point B, it’s about creating opportunity, fostering connection, and advancing accessibility,” said Matthew Mauk, Executive Director at Yuba-Sutter Transit. “Together we will ensure Yuba-Sutter Transit continues to serve our community for many decades to come.”

As Yuba-Sutter Transit celebrates its anniversary, it remains committed to future growth and innovation while recognizing the dedication of its staff, whose continued efforts ensure the delivery of reliable transportation services throughout our community.

To our valued Yuba-Sutter Transit passengers: thank you for choosing Yuba-Sutter Transit. We are honored to serve you and look forward to continuing our transportation journey together.
