YUBA-SUTTER TRANSIT RECEIVES $12.71 MILLION FEDERAL GRANT FOR THE NEW NEXTGEN TRANSIT FACILITY

December 5, 2025, Marysville, CA – Yuba-Sutter Transit is proud to announce that an additional $12.71 million in grant funding was recently awarded towards the development of its new bus operations and maintenance facility, dubbed the “NextGen Transit Facility.” The funding comes through the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Program. Yuba-Sutter Transit’s NextGen Transit Facility project, anticipated for completion in 2028, is one of six projects across California selected for funding under this highly competitive federal grant program.

FTA's Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Program, open to state and local governmental agencies, supports capital projects to replace buses and related equipment and to rehabilitate, build, or lease bus-related facilities. For Federal fiscal year 2025-2026, approximately $400 million was available nationwide through this program.

“This $12.71 million federal grant award represents a major milestone in our efforts to support and expand transit services for the Yuba-Sutter region, “said Matthew Mauk, Executive Director at Yuba-Sutter Transit. “The NextGen Transit Facility will provide the space and modern infrastructure needed to help the agency meet future transit demand, lower operational costs, and meet state regulations.”

With $65.4 million in grant funding already secured toward the project, Yuba-Sutter Transit is moving ever closer to breaking ground on this critical transit facility project. The next phases of the project include obtaining both federal and state environmental approvals and finalizing preliminary site design.
