FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STATE TRANSIT & INTERCITY RAIL CAPITAL PROGRAM (TIRCP) GRANT AWARD ANNOUNCEMENT

April 25, 2023, Marysville, CA – Governor Gavin Newsom announced Monday, April 24th, that Yuba-Sutter Transit has been awarded a grant for $13.725 million in state Transit & Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP) funding. This grant, one of 28 statewide, includes $10 million for the NextGen Transit Facility project; $3 milion toward 15 small battery-electric buses for use on the Yuba-Sutter Transit's planned on-demand system; and $0.725 million toward one battery-electric commuter bus for use on a planned Highway 65 service to connect with the services operated by Roseville and Placer County at the Roseville Galleria Transit Center.

Yuba-Sutter Transit has now secured approximately $40 million in grants or specific budget authority toward the estimated $50 million cost of a new zero-emission bus operations, maintenance, and administration facility at 6035 Avondale Avenue in Linda. Other major funding sources include $15 million from a 2022 USDOT RAISE grant and $8.5 million from a 2021 state Affordable Housing & Sustainable Communities (AHSC) grant. Announcements regarding two other grant applications for the new facility are expected by the end of June. Environmental and design work on the new facility is set to begin in early 2024 with construction expected to be complete by the end of 2026.
