FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TRANSIT DRIVER APPRECIATION DAY IS MONDAY, MARCH 18TH

March 12, 2024, Marysville, CA – The first "Five Penny Coaches" local fixed route bus service was established in Paris on March 18,1662. March is now Transit Driver Appreciation Month and March 18th is Transit Driver Appreciation Day around the world as public transit vehicle operators are recognized for the essential services that they provide.

Locally, Yuba-Sutter Transit invites everyone to join us in showing their appreciation to each of our employees, no matter the position, for all they do each day for our passengers and the communities that we serve. The men and women who operate Yuba-Sutter Transit's buses do it all: pre-trip safety inspections, boarding passengers, collecting fares, answering trip planning questions, returning lost items, and more, all while ensuring the safety of our passengers and the public.

Safely maneuvering a large and heavy vehicle through traffic, tight corners, road detours, and during all sorts of weather, is a demanding and important public service. Our drivers are dedicated to what they do, and they deserve our heartfelt thanks, so we invite you to join us in celebrating these essential workers on Transit Driver Appreciation Day, Monday, March 18th and all throughout the year.
